What are the qualifications of the Window?
Windows must have the Energy Star Most Efficient certification. This is an extremely important detail…as the Most Efficient certification requires an incredibly low U Factor of <= 0.20. Window Depot USA is one of the few companies that offer products with this “best of the best” distinction.

How do I claim my Tax Credit?

In order to claim the credit, your windows need to have been installed, not just purchased in the year you’re filing. The tax credit can increase your tax refund or reduce your taxable income.

- Credit amount: You can claim 30% of the product cost for qualifying exterior windows or skylights. Labor and installation fees do not count.
- Must meet ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria and be listed in the NFRC Certified Product Directory (CPD) appropriate to your climate zone. Only those with a green check in your zone qualify.
Overall Credit Cap
- This window credit falls under the broader $1,200 annual limit for home envelope improvements (doors, windows, skylights, insulation, and related items).
- Additionally, you can during the same year claim up to $2,000 for qualifying heat pumps, biomass stoves/boilers—bringing the combined maximum up to $3,200.

- Certification Required: Exterior doors must be ENERGY STAR certified and meet your climate zone’s requirements. Verify eligibility via the NFRC Certified Product Directory using the Certified Product Directory (CPD) number.
- Documentation: Retain receipts, manufacturer certification, energy-efficiency labels, and any NFRC/ENERGY STAR documentation—you may need them if audited.
